Emma’s first birthday portrait session (and cake smash!)

With borrowed camera in hand (we only took our point & shoot to convention!) we photographed the Shandros of Edmonton and the McLeods of Fife Scotland during an impromptu Carefree AZ portrait session for the Roadside Families Project. Michael & Haley Shandro own Shandro Photo and have the most adorable little baby boy Andrew, Michael’s parents happen to winter near Phoenix so they met up with us for the session as well!  Nikki McLeod owns Nikki McLeod Photography and we’d met up with Nikki, her husband Graham, and darling son Jack a few times before when they’d come over on holidays to Canada.

We spent 6 days soaking up the sun and inspiration at our annual photography convention at the Carefree Resort and Villas near Phoenix AZ.  And we made sure we got lots of cactus photos for the girls too!
